Kathryn Arrants, MA ET, LPC, RYT, LCAS
Masters in Expressive Therapy, Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Yoga Teacher, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and EMDR Therapist
We all go through times in our lives that are difficult and challenging. Therapy can help us to cope with the problems that prevent us from achieving our true potential.
Imagine gaining mastery of the tools you need to feel in control rather than hijacked by your emotions. In therapy you will be growing a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You will explore your life in a new, judgment-free way. You will have someone to talk to and trust with your experiences.
According to your needs and interests, I can integrate art, music, yoga, and intermodal expressive therapy with traditional psychotherapy and evidence based approaches including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, EMDR, and Behavior Analysis. Therapy is your healing journey and you are the one in charge.
Hope and Healing
Helping individuals and couples with anxiety, trauma, and life transitions.
Expressive Therapy
Expressive Arts Therapy is an integrative approach using art, music, movement, and pscyhodrama principals to help individuals reduce symptoms and achieve healing. ET is effective for children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of diagnoses and issues. The creative process can provide a healthy outlet for emotions, a key to understanding our deeper issues, and a sense of mastery over our lives.
TF-CBT
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an evidence based treatment for symptoms of trauma, PTSD, and Adjustment Disorders. TFCBT has been shown to reduce or eliminate symptoms in 80% of participants. This approach uses family support, education, relaxation, training, and communication building to help children ages 3-18 overcome the effects of trauma.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a scientific evidence based approach to healing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, phobias, depression, and adjustment problems. EMDR allows your brain to do the healing as the therapist facilitates with specific questions and techniques. It has been shown to be consistently effective in clinical trials.
CBT
Cognitive Behavior Therapy is an evidence based treatment for anxiety, OCD, ADHD, adult high functioning autism, trauma, eating disorders, and family relationship problems. CBT teaches us how to change our thoughts to change our lives using practical strategies for unique situations.
Body-Centered
Couples and Marriage
Couples therapy can help participants strengthen their relationship, heal from a betrayal, or cope with a difficult situation. I utilize my training in the Gottman method to help couples gain a deeper understanding of their relationship, to build better communication skills, and to reignite joy in each other. I am comfortable and experienced working with members of the lgbtq community as well as heterosexual couples, and couples who are polyamorous or monogamous.
Somatic approaches to therapy help people to sense the body in order to calm the nervous system and increase emotion regulation. My training in yoga, mindfulness, dance and movement therapy, and EMDR informs the somatic approach that I can offer clients.
